As Istanbul Kültür University, in line with our goal of creating a disaster-resilient society, a general EARTHQUAKE DRILL will be conducted on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:30 across all our campuses and student dormitories.

The purpose of the drill is to raise awareness among our students, academic and administrative staff about how to act during a potential earthquake and to test the feasibility of our evacuation plans.

Drill Information

• Date: Wednesday, May 14, 2025
• Time: 10:30
• Scenario: A realistic earthquake and evacuation scenario will be simulated.

Rules to Follow Before the Drill1.    Remain in your current location at the time of the drill and wait for instructions from the assigned staff.
2.    Familiarize yourself in advance with the emergency exits and assembly areas at your campus.

3.    Keep your personal belongings (phone, ID card, keys, etc.) with you.
4.    Do not use elevators. Be prepared to use the stairs.
5.    Groups in class during the drill will participate under the guidance of academic staff.

Steps to Follow During the Drill
1.    At 10:30, a siren will sound through the speakers for 30 seconds, followed by the announcement: "This is an earthquake drill."
2.    Upon hearing this, everyone is expected to perform the following action:

DROP – COVER – HOLD ON
Find a safe spot, drop to the ground, protect your head, and hold onto a stable object.
3.    After approximately 30 seconds, the announcement “Evacuation Begin” will be made.
4.    After this announcement:
o Calmly and orderly exit the building.
o DO NOT use the elevators.
o Use the stairs to go outside.
o Follow the guidance of assigned staff and proceed to the designated open-air assembly area.
5.    A short briefing will be held at the assembly area.
Post-Drill Rules and Evaluation Process
1.    All participants must wait for further instructions and announcements from staff at the assembly area.
2.    Remain in the area until it is officially announced that the drill has ended.
Remember: Correct actions during a real disaster save lives.
Through this drill, we will raise awareness for the safety of ourselves and those around us.
